§ 1-107. Hunter education certification and requirements.
A. Hunter Education Certification. Any person age ten (10) and older may complete the hunter education course and receive certification. Anyone may attend an approved hunter education course, but only persons who are ten (10) and older will be eligible to test for certification.
B. Hunters Age Nine and Younger. Any person who is age of nine and younger must obtain an apprentice-designated hunting license. Such hunters must abide by accompanying hunter requirements.
C. Hunters Age Ten (10) to Thirty (30). Any person who is age ten (10) to thirty (30) and not hunter education certified may obtain an apprentice-designated hunting license. Such hunters must abide by accompanying hunter requirements.
D. Hunter Education Certification Exemption. Any person age thirty-one (31) and older is exempt from hunter education certification in order to obtain a hunting license.
E. Accompanying Hunter Requirements. An accompanying hunter shall be eighteen (18) or older who is licensed and hunter education certified unless exempt pursuant to the Wildlife Conservation Regulations. For big game hunting, an accompanying hunter must be within arm’s length of the hunter or close enough to take immediate control of the firearm or bow of the apprentice. For small game hunting, the accompanying hunter must be within sight of and able to communicate with the apprentice in a normal voice without aid. ONCA 17-30, eff. Apr. 26, 2017.
