A. Each allegation of child abuse/neglect, delinquency, in need of supervision, in need of treatment within the Court’s jurisdiction shall be investigated by the Indian Child Welfare Department and/or the Osage Nation Police.

B. An intake refers to the initial process of gathering information which may be pertinent to provide services or proceed with an investigation.

C. All intakes shall have a written record.

D. If the Child Welfare Officer determines that the interests of the child or the community require that Court action be taken, he or she shall request in writing that the Tribal Prosecutor file a petition and deliver a copy of the entire case file to the Tribal Prosecutor.

E. If the Child Welfare Officer determines that the interest of the child or of the Osage Nation do not require Court action, the Indian Child Welfare Department may offer such services and make such referrals to other agencies as may be feasible to help the family with any defined problems.
