§ 1-102. Definitions.
As used in this Act:
A. “Adult member” means an Osage Nation member who is over eighteen (18) years of age.
B. “Base Membership Roll” means those persons whose names appear on the final roll of the Osage Tribe of Indians pursuant to the Act of June 28, 1906 (34 Stat. 539).
C. “Collateral descendants” means a class of persons who are not lineal descendants.
D. “Lineal descendant” means a person who is a blood relative in the direct line of descent to a person on the Base Membership Roll.
E. “Membership Roll” means a roll of those persons who are members of the Osage Nation as of the date of the roll.
F. “Membership Office” means the entity established by law to assist the Osage Nation Congress in regulating membership and maintaining a correct roll of all Osages enrolled as members of the Osage Nation.
G. “Minor member” means a person who has not yet attained eighteen (18) years of age.
H. “Original allottee” means a person whose name appears on the final roll of the Osage Tribe of Indians, pursuant to the Act of June 28, 1906 (34 Stat. 539).
I. “Sponsor” means a person who is acting on behalf of a minor, minor member, incompetent or incapacitated adult or incompetent or incapacitated adult member and who is:
1. In the case of a minor, a biological parent of such minor whose parental rights relating to the minor have not been terminated by a court of law; or
2. A duly appointed legal guardian, adoptive parent, power of attorney or other representative with legal power and authority over the care, custody, and welfare of such person.
J. “Temporary member” means a child from birth to three hundred sixty-five (365) days of age who is a lineal descendant of an original allottee. ONCA 16-16, eff. Dec. 14, 2015; ONCA 19-14, eff. Apr. 4, 2019.
