Upon the approach of any police, fire department vehicle, or authorized emergency vehicle giving an audible signal by bell, siren, exhaust whistle, or emergency lights, the driver of every vehicle shall immediately drive to a position on the side of the roadway unless otherwise directed by a police or traffic officer until the police, fire department vehicle, or authorized emergency vehicle shall have passed. Any person found in violation of the above will be charged with an infraction and be fined not to exceed One Hundred Dollars ($100.00). This provision shall not relieve the driver of an authorized emergency vehicle from the duty to drive with due regard for the safety of all persons using the highways.
