To determine the ten (10) year model age limit for this purpose, subtract nine from the current latest manufacturer’s model on sale. September 1st is the generally accepted date that new model vehicles go on sale. This formula for determining the age of a model year will apply to all such determinations regarding salvage. For example, prior to September 1, 2012, the latest manufacturer’s model on sale is 2012 models. Therefore, a ten (10) year old vehicle would be a 2003 model (2012-9). In this example, vehicles that are 2003 models and older, are exempt from the salvage requirements. ONCA 14-38, eff. Apr. 28, 2014.
